Antagony
23 - 25 February
Written and directed by Joe Lui
Photo: Paul Grabovac
Continuing their exploration of the contemporary ramifications of classical texts, Renegade Productions (Winner, 2009 Blue Room Theatre Judges’ Choice Award) is back to push the classic Sophoclean text Antigone into the post-dramatic world.
Dealing with the politics of gender and discursions of academia, Antagony is a searing indictment of the things that blinker our experiences of the world, and of each other.
Through performance art, song, movement and sound, this non-narrative series of multi-disciplinary performances will see Renegade chart further experimental depth, building on the political, contemporary-yet-classical ethos of the company.
Shells and Other Marvels

2 – 4 March
Written and performed by Joshua Makinda
Image: Stevie Cruz-Martin and Josh Makinda
Josh says: “This is a work-in-progress stand-up show, so expect a raw and reckless atmosphere in the air… this does not mean I’ll be wearing a hat backwards.
“I'll be talking about loveliness and life and hopefully touching hearts a little. Come and be a part of it. That is all, friends.”
Josh’s non-linear comedy stylings have earned him the reputation of one of Australia’s most unique stand-ups. The young Perth Kenyan has performed in Edinburgh and been a winner of TripleJ Raw Comedy. See his brand new show before it hits the Melbourne International Comedy Festival in April.
I Wanna Be Sagiquarius!

When subcultures collide...
It’s a tough life for the housemates of 5 Centaur Street. So tough in fact, it’s a marvel Gemma has the strength to complain between status updates on facebook.
Not that her housemates are even listening.
Winnie is so obsessed with astrology she’s living in the stars.
Psych student Angela is about to suffer a pre-exams breakdown.
Perhaps the newest housemate, Quentin, will add an extra spark to the unsettled household…
Rubaiyat [roo-bahy-yaht]
16 – 18 Mar
Directed by Andrew Hale
Performed by Renee Hale

The stars align for an Australian woman and a 12th Century Persian poet and Astrologer.
In the search for a presence within the Universe, a relationship to the earth and expression of the true self, a theatrical tapestry on the meaning of existence is lovingly woven before the audience.
Using the Intricate four-line stanzas of the Rubaiyat by Omar Khayyam, Happy Dagger Theatre explores what it is to look at the stars and still feel at home.
All tickets:
$5 (Thursdays include entry to After party!)
Blue Room members receive a complimentary beverage each night of 21 Summer Nights (with a ticket purchase).
